Sergio Mariotti is Retired Full Professor of Industrial Economics. He is Director of the project on the Internationalization of the Italian Economy sponsored by the Italian Trade Agency. He coordinated research for European Commission, CNR , MIUR, Bank of Italy, Confindustria, ENEA. He served as advisor for multinational enterprises and institutions. He is author of 395 papers. He has published in journals such as Economic Geography, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of International Business Studies, Industrial and Corporate Change, Regional Studies, Research Policy. He is Honorary Editor of the Journal of Industrial & Business Economics.

Master of Science: Electronics Engineering, Politecnico di Milano.
His research interests cover the economics of multinational enterprises and global networks, the economics of industrial and institutional change, and the economics of innovation. His current research focuses on ownership and corporate governance mechanisms and their interaction with the institutional variety of capitalism as drivers of firm’s internationalization strategies. He is also working on the effects of competition-enhancing policies on the attraction of foreign direct investments.
