Because of an increasing complexity of business operations, Project Management professionals are in high demand in any industry. This is why MIP and Strathclyde offer a professional training at postgraduate level integrating the most recent approaches in Project Management with a cross-sectorial and intercultural perspective that focus on managerial, behavioural and technical competencies.
This International Master in Project Management is addressed to all candidates aiming at understanding and improving the way to drive projects (from small ones to mega-projects) exploring both individual, team and company strategies.

The program offers a highly specialized qualification in two countries with candidates receiving the Master Degree from Politecnico di Milano and a Master of Science in Project Management from Strathclyde Business School. Discover the highlights of the programme.

The International Master in Project Management is a 18-month Master programme offered by MIP Politecnico di Milano and Strathclyde Business School, that seeks to instruct students on managerial topics relevant to Project Management with special focus on project management as a process to deliver complex change, strategic management for formulating and implementing organizational strategy and the development of soft skills.
The master is entirely taught in English and is targeting junior profiles with little or no work experience.

Students will spend 1 semester in Milan before they are moving to Glasgow for the second semester at Strathclyde Business School. The class room activity is then followed by a final project work which can take place in Italy, the UK or internationally.

Who is eligible for the IMPM Programme?

Students with a bachelor degree of 3 or 4 years in any discipline (minimum 180 ECTS) or higher are eligible to apply.
The English knowledge is a compulsory requirement. Candidates need to present an IELTS score of minimum 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each subtest. A CAE Certificate (Level C1) is also acceptable.

How long is the IMPM programme?

The programme is 18 months long.

In what language is the programme taught?

The programme is taught in English, although there are opportunities for students to study the native language of the country of study throughout the programme.

Do I need to speak Italian?

No, as the medium for the course is English, students are not required to learn Italian, although they will be given the opportunity to do so.

How many students are in the programme?

The average class size is around twenty students.

Is there an age limit for the programme?

No, but the programme is ideally suited for recent University graduates and those in the initial stages of their career.



Applications are processed on a rolling basis. Since the number of seats in class is limited, candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Should the course become fully subscribed before the deadline dates, applications will close earlier.

Non-EU students are encouraged to apply at least three months before the start of the programme in order to allow enough time for the Declaration of Value (DOV) procedure for Italy and establishment of the student visa.

The master is targeting junior profiles with little (<3 years) or no work experience.

What is the deadline for applying to the programme?

The final application date for Non EU students is the 31st of May, whilst EU students have until the 30th of June to apply for the course starting in 2019. However, please note that the admission process for the master is on a rolling basis, therefore the sooner you apply the more chances you will have of securing your place in the class, as capacity may be reached before the final application deadlines.

Does the IMPM programme have a letter of recommendation form?

There is no specific form for the recommendation letters; however if you need any further assistance on the ideal template for your application, please contact infomasters@mip.polimi.it and we can provide you with further assistance in this matter.


The programme costs €16.500 for EU candidates and €18.500 for non-EU candidates. These costs cover the entire length of the programme, although they do not include living and travel expenses.

For exceptional applicants to the IMPM programme, MIP offers a number of tuition fee contributions based on different parameters, such as merits and needs.

You are working in the organizational committee of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The games will start in 3 years and you have been told to design the organization structure of the team (approximately 70 persons) in charge of realisation of the games.

Your goal is to suggest possible organization structures (identifications of the roles and related correlation) of the decision maker group knowing that the contingent nature of the project impose a continuous revision of that structure along the project life cycle (that will finish 3 months later the end of the game).
