This Master is designed to train a new generation of data-savvy professionals to be able to manage complex business analytics problems across a variety of different industries and environments. It is an innovative programme based on a holistic educational experience, where theory and practice are fully interlaced through the continuous support of companies and international partners. Furthermore, being in constant relationship with the Big Data Analytics & Business Intelligence Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano, the course is at the forefront of research on ICTs for big data analysis and management.

PROGRAMME

The International Master in Business Analytics and Big Data is a 12-month Master programme offered by MIP and CEFRIEL-Politecnico di Milano in partnership with IBM.  It is designed to train young and highly-motivated candidates to achieve a series of formative goals through an experiential approach to both intellectual studies and hands-on application with labs, business cases, contributions by industrial partners and companies, and internships. Besides the participation of distinguished interdisciplinary academics from Politecnico di Milano and other prominent international institutions, together with renowned partners, the Master also offers international faculty and exchange programmes.
The master is entirely taught in English and targets junior profiles with little or no work experience.

The programme is divided into six major modules and requires the completion of a final project work, which consists either of a curricular in-company internship supervised by a faculty member, or of a master thesis that will be defended as a final exam.

QTEM, Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management, is an international network bringing together outstanding students, Academic Partners and International Corporations. The network develops skills in analytical and quantitative techniques to support decision-making in an international context. The QTEM Master’s programme is open to outstanding students enrolled at Academic Partner institutions.

Who is eligible for the programmes?

Students with 3- or 4-year Bachelor's degree (minimum 180 ECTS) in the areas of Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Management, Mathematics, Science or Statistics from Accredited Institutions are eligible for the programme. Knowledge of English is a compulsory requirement.

How long are the programmes?

The programmes are 12 months long.

In what language are the programme taught?

The programmes are taught in English.

Do I need to speak Italian?

No, as the medium for the course is English, students are not required to learn Italian, although they will be given the opportunity to do so.

How many students are on the programmes?

Class size is limited to ensure the best ratio between students and faculty as well as students and staff. You can expect c.30/35 students on the course.

Is there an age limit for the programmes?

No, but the average age of the candidates is 20-25 years.

What type of degree/title will I obtain upon graduation?

Upon graduation, candidates obtain the First Level University Specializing Master from Politecnico di Milano which is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and it is issued under the autonomous responsibility of Politecnico di Milano. With regard to the specific meaning of the 1st level master's degree, as per Bologna process, this is a 2nd cycle programme intended to provide students with further specialization or higher continuing education after completion of the first cycle. The first level Master Degree will release 60 ECTS/CFU credits.

Candidates are advised to check with the relevant authorities in their home countries regarding the validity/recognition of this title in their home countries.

Will I have to buy textbooks?

No, you will be provided with textbooks by the programme, with the cost included as part of the overall programme fee.

ADMISSIONS

STATUS OF APPLICATIONS: OPEN
DEADLINE NON-EU CANDIDATES: May 31st 2018
DEADLINE EU CANDIDATES: July 15th.

Applications are processed on a rolling basis. Since the number of seats in class is limited, candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Should the course become fully subscribed before the deadline dates, applications will close earlier.

Non-EU students are encouraged to apply at least three months before the start of the programme in order to allow enough time for the Declaration of Value (DOV) procedure for Italy and establishment of the student visa.

The Master targets junior profiles with little or no work experience.

The ideal candidate

  • Possesses the potential to acquire and develop advanced quantitative skills
  • Has a deep interest in logic and big data technology for creating business value
  • Demonstrates well-developed analytical skills and business skills.

What is the deadline for applying to the programmes?

Please note that the admissions process for the masters is on a rolling basis, therefore the sooner you apply the more chance you will have of securing your place in the class, as capacity may be reached before the final application deadlines.

Does the programmes have a letter of recommendation form?

There is no specific form for the recommendation letters; however if you need any help on the ideal template for your application, please contact infomasters@mip.polimi.it and we can provide you with further assistance in this matter.

FEES AND BENEFITS

The programme costs €14,000. This amount covers the entire length of the programme, although it does not include living and travel expenses.

Candidates should indicate on the application form if they would like to apply for financial aid at the time of application.

EARLY-BIRD REDUCTIONS

Candidates activating their application by January 31st, 2021, can be eligible to run for an Early Bird discount of €1000 on their tuition fee.*

GMAT-/GRE-BASED REDUCTIONS

Candidates with a high GMAT/GRE score will be eligible to run for the following contributions:

GMAT Score between 590 and 650 or GRE equivalent - €1,500

GMAT Score above 650 or GRE equivalent - €3,000

REGIONAL CONTRIBUTION

Candidates coming from selected regions (Eastern Europe, Western Europe, South-East Asia, Middle-East Asia, Central Asia, Indian Sub-Continent, Oceania, Africa, Northern America, Central America, South America, Gulf Countries, The Caribbean and Far East Asia) can apply for tuition fee waivers covering up to EUR 3000. Candidates need to submit an essay explaining how their international and unique profiles will add to the diversity of the class.

ALUMNI CONTRIBUTIONS

Merit-based tuition fee contributions of €1,000 are available for alumni from various master programs of MIP and other departments of Politecnico di Milano.

KINSHIP CONTRIBUTIONS

Candidates whose family members (brothers, sisters, spouses) have graduated from one of the International Specialising Master Degrees of MIP Politecnico di Milano are entitled to a contribution of €1,000.

MIP4EXPATS CONTRIBUTION

International candidates who are living, working or staying in Italy at the time of application can apply for tuition fee waivers covering up to EUR 3000. To apply, candidates need to submit an essay explaining how their international profile and experience will add value to the class.

DEUTSCHE BILDUNG.
THE ALTERNATIVE TO A STUDENT LOAN.

As a social business, Deutsche Bildung has been supporting German students since 2007.
