The POLIMI School of Management has confirmed its international excellence by ranking 31st worldwide in the Financial Times’ 2025 Research Insights, which measures business schools’ ability to produce research with real impact on business, institutions and society.
The ranking assesses the quality, relevance and reach of academic research in 179 international business schools, analysing their scientific output published between 2020 and 2025.
In addition to traditional academic citations, the Financial Times considers a range of broader indicators, including:
- research credibility, as measured by the Scite positive citation index (that is, citations in which other scholars confirm the validity of the work),
- studies related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
- impact on public policy and professional practice,
- media and online visibility, measured using tools such as Overton, Altmetric and the SSRN platform,
- productivity normalised according to faculty size.
In the 2025 ranking, POLIMI School of Management stands out for an exceptional achievement: 2nd place globally for research related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This recognition reflects the School’s ongoing commitment to promoting research that combines academic rigour with social impact, contributing to knowledge on crucial issues such as environmental sustainability, inclusion and responsible innovation.
With these results, POLIMI School of Management reaffirms its position among Europe’s leading players in management research, dedicated to developing rigorous, relevant and responsible knowledge in support of sustainable innovation and the advancement of businesses and society.
