Firms and their transformation processes in the pandemic context
MIP returns with our Purpose Talks, a series of events featuring lecturers, consultants, business managers and coaches who will explain how companies and organisations are moving in practical terms towards a new business model inspired by a “higher purpose”, which sees people and society as fundamental elements in creating a successful business.
The pandemic has presented the world with countless challenges, starting with the healthcare sector. Companies had to go through a series of internal transformation processes to survive the impact.

On Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, take part in the fourth of MIP’s Purpose Talk series and do not miss the contributions made by Federico Frattini, Dean of MIP – Graduate School of Business at Politecnico di Milano, Colin Mayer, Peter Moores Professor of Management Studies at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and Armida Gigante, Sustainability, Open Innovation & Stakeholder Experience Lead at Medtronic, who will discuss the challenges that every company is experiencing.
The event will be inaugurated by Antonella Moretto, Associate Dean of MIP Graduate School of Business, who will present MIP’s International Full-Time MBA, focusing on the programme and its objectives.

About the Speakers

Federico Frattini
Dean of MIP, the Graduate School of Business of Politecnico di Milano. A long experience at Politecnico di Milano, covering many qualifying roles: started as Assistant Professor, he is now Full Professor of Strategic Management and Innovation, and Member of the management committee of MIP. At Politecnico di Milano he also co-founded Energy & Strategy, a research team that analyses the business models and the technological and innovation choices of the companies in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grid, digital energy and others. He has been Deputy Director of Energy & Strategy since 2007. |

Colin Mayer
Colin Mayer is the Peter Moores Professor of Management Studies at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Centre for Economic Policy Research and the European Corporate Governance Institute, a Professorial Fellow of Wadham College, Oxford and an Honorary Fellow of Oriel College, Oxford and St Anne’s College, Oxford. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Oxford Playhouse, and he was a member of the UK Government Natural Capital Committee, the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal and the International Advisory Board of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. He was chairman of Oxera Ltd between 1986 and 2010 and a director of the energy modelling company, Aurora Energy Research Ltd between 2013 and 2020. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours. He leads the British Academy enquiry into “The Future of the Corporation” and his most recent book, Prosperity: Better Business Makes the Greater Good, is published by Oxford University Press. |

Armida Gigante
Armida Gigante joined Medtronic Italia to develop with the Italian leadership team an approach to Sustainability and Innovation that can differentiate the stakeholder experience delivered and build long-term partnerships with Universities, Research and Financial Institutions and Patients’ Associations. Previously she worked for more than twenty years in several industries (Telecommunications in Vodafone, Gaming on Line in Buongiorno, Postal and Delivery in Nexive, Utilities in A2A) delivering business transformation programmes by leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence that strengthened a Customer-Centric culture and brought successful business results. In particular in A2A, she realised a turnaround in credit management that improved the financial performance by 62% and reviewed the service platform to support customers for 50 companies in the group in several business units. |

Antonella Moretto
Antonella Moretto is Associate Dean of MIP Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business. She is the Vice Director of the MBA and Executive MBA Area at MIP. She also teaches Supplier Relationship Management for the MSc in Management Engineering, and she is part of the core faculty of the MIP Graduate School of Business in the area of Purchasing and Supply Management. |
