Analysis of the potential positioning of ENI in the global renewables markets

About the project

The project has three main goals: (1) to study the evolution and trends of the most important renewable energy sources and storage systems, in terms of installed power, capex and LCOE; (2) to design and apply a complete scorecard for the analysis of  attractiveness of selected countries; (3) to propose a potential entry strategy in the most promising countries emerging for the previous analyses.

KEY RESEARCH QUESTIONS

The project has three main goals: (1) to study the evolution and trends of the most important renewable energy sources and storage systems, in terms of installed power, capex and LCOE. Eight homogeneous geographical areas have been considered for the analysis in order to underline the peculiarities of each of them: North Africa and Middle East, Rest of Africa, Latin America (Central and South America), North America (U.S., Canada), Europe, Russia and the ex Soviet Republic, China, India, South Korea and Japan (C-I-K-J), Rest of Asia and Australia. (2) to design and apply a complete scorecard for the analysis of  attractiveness of selected countries. For the purpose of the analysis the scorecard is divided into 4 macro-areas, each one including a set of specific indicators: global context indicators; industrial context; normative context; industrial rivalry context. The scorecard provides a 0-50 grade of the attractiveness of the Country, taking into account both the current status and the foreseen trend in the period 2015-2020. (3) to propose a potential entry strategy in the most promising countries emerging for the previous analyses.

OUTPUTS & IMPACTS

Data about 7 main technologies (PV, CSP, Hydro, Waste-to-Energy, Wind, Biofuel and Storage), 8 geographical areas, and 8 main Countries around the World have been deeply  analyzed. The Report provided in a private form to ENI showed the potential positioning of the company in the global market of renewables
