About the project

The competitiveness of the different economic sectors (Retail, Tourism, Toy Industry, …) is increasingly influenced by digital technology, both in the management of internal processes of companies and in the relationship with consumers. Digital Innovation verticals aim at helping the different industry players to understand how needs and behaviors of users and consumers are changing in the Digital Era and to catch the opportunities offered by a structured and critical use of digital tools

KEY RESEARCH QUESTIONS

The competitiveness of the different economic sectors (Retail, Tourism, Toy Industry, …) is increasingly influenced by digital technology, both with regard to the management of internal processes of companies and to the relationship with consumers.

Digital Innovation verticals aim at helping the different industry players to gain an actual understanding of the opportunities offered by a structured and critical use of digital tools, and in particular address the following key research questions:

  • What is the value of eCommerce in the Italian market of these industries? How is the distribution evolving? How are physical and digital channels integrating?
  • What is the behavior of the Italian and International consumer in the different phases of the journey?
  • How are the industry players (eg retailers; accomodation facilities and tour operators for Tourism) reacting to the challenges introduced by the digital economy? How are they reinterpreting their human and digital relationship with the customer?
  • How are technologies such as IoT, blockchain, artificial intelligence and virtual reality affecting these sectors?

Different research methodologies are used, the main ones being case studies, surveys, and observations. Moreover, interactive workshops are organised with the different stakeholders in the sectors, in order to share data and experiences useful to feed and tune the analyses developed by the research team.
