E-Mobility Observatory

About the project

E-Mobility Report (eMR) is a periodic report analyzing the development of the e-mobility market in Italy. The goal of the report is to go beyond the analysis of the market for electric cars, providing a perspective and a forecast also about the infrastructures needed for charging electric vehicles and the related business models (for utilities, point of interests, EMPs, …), and more in general the other forms of electric transportation (from light commercial vehicles to heavy-duty vehicles, from motorcycles to public transport).

KEY RESEARCH QUESTIONS

E-Mobility Report (eMR) is a periodic report analyzing the development of the e-mobility market in Italy. The goal of the report is to go beyond the analysis of the market for electric cars, providing a perspective and a forecast also about the infrastructures needed for charging electric vehicles and the related business models (for utilities, point of interests, EMPs, …), and more in general the other forms of electric transportation (from light commercial vehicles to heavy-duty vehicles, from motorcycles to public transport).

A particular focus is devoted to the understanding of the impact of “smart” mobility, referring with this concept to the usage of cars (and other electric vehicles) as actors of the electricity market (for energy and capacity services) in the so called V2X (vehicle to everything) paradigm.

The structure of the E-Mobility Observatory, similarly to the other observatories run by Energy & Strategy is based on 4 pillars: (1) the analysis of the state-of-the art of the technologies representing the offer in the field; (2) the analysis of the current size and forecasts of the market; (3) the analysis of the normative and regulatory framework applied in the field; (4) the analysis of business models and development strategies of the key players in the field.

OUTPUTS & IMPACTS

So far the following Reports Related to E-Mobility Observatories have been published:

  1. Chiaroni, D., Frattini, F., Bonalumi, M., 2018, “E-Mobility Report: Le opportunità e le sfide per lo sviluppo della mobilità elettrica in Italia”, Energy & Strategy Group – Politecnico di Milano, ISBN 978-88-98399-28-4. (in Italiano).
(in Italiano).

In total more than 2.500 professionals attended the 2 Conferences held since 2017 to present the results of the e-Mobility Report.

In particular in 2018 the Conference (“That’s Mobility) has been organized in two days in October at MICO-Milano in collaboration with Reed Exhibitions.
