My name is Laura Grassi and I am a professor of Investment Banking and Finance Lab courses at Politecnico di Milano, where I am also a Senior Assistant Professor. In my role as Head of the Fintech and Insurtech Observatory, I am involved in research on financial incumbents and startups, with a particular emphasis on Europe as well as on international markets. I am also Director of the evening Executive MBA programme at Politecnico’s business school, Polimi Graduate School of Management. My students are important to me, and I strongly encourage them to participate in international competitions, such as the CFA Institute Research Challenge, where we have reached the world finals on numerous occasions (among the five top universities worldwide out of 1,100 participants). After attending conferences, congresses, Horizon project meetings (recently winning a funded project on climate insurance) and being frequently involved in research abroad, I always try to return home as soon as I can to be with my family.
