Desirée van Dun is Associate Professor Leadership and Teamwork for Industry 5.0 Transformation. She obtained a cum laude PhD in 2015, which received various (inter)national awards including the Emerald/EFMD Best Dissertation Award in Operations Management. Between 2017 and 2025 she was Assistant and Associate Professor at University of Twente and a visiting researcher at Cardiff Business School, UK. Prior she worked 10 years as a management consultant. She is Managing Editor at International Journal of Operations & Production Management and Associate Editor at Creativity and Innovation Management. She also serves as the 2025 Program Chair of the Academy of Management’s OSCM Division.

Research

Desirée van Dun studies effective human behavioural dynamics for digital and green organizational transformation (Industry 5.0). She pioneers high-tech field research methods like video observation and arousal data collection during real meetings, similar to those found in DIG’s CORE and BRIEL labs. As an engaged scholar, she collaborates with organizations to contribute practically-relevant academic research (and education). Her academic work has appeared in management journals such as the International Review of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Production Planning and Control, European Management Journal, Creativity and Innovation Management and International Journal of Qualitative Methods.
