Abstract:

Many researchers have noted the similarities between recently developed concepts of leadership based on positive aspects such as authentic, transformational, ethical, servant, or spiritual leadership. The concepts are known as value-based leadership theories or positive leadership theories, which focus on ethics and moral issues. However, there are voices that the new leadership theories are self-replications of old theories. The overlapping of multiple leadership approaches is highly problematic and causes “construct proliferation”. Thus, there is a need for transparency in the constructs in the field of leadership. The study presents the semantic relationship between positive leadership concepts. The discussions on the topic may contribute to a significant advancement in understanding and developing a holistic framework for leadership to scholars and practitioners.
