Ernst Johannes (Ernst-Jan) Prosman has a double Msc degree in Supply Chain Management and Operations Management from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). After a year of working in the United Kingdom, he pursued a PhD at Aalborg University (Denmark) where he did research on optimizing the supply chain and operations processes of industrial symbiosis. During this research, he worked at an international cement manufacturer to implement the research findings. Ernst-Jan has been a visiting researcher at Cambridge University at the Institute for Manufacturing. Research

Current research lines are basd upon two Horizon2020 projects namely 1) Ploutos: rebalancing the agri-food value chain by means of collaborative sustainable business models, data-driven innovations and behaviour innovation and 2) Food Trails: developing sustainable food policies for cities. Besides this, I focus on circular economy in the the agri-food sector and the role of start-ups.
