THE MASTER FOR THE DIGITAL LEADERS OF TOMORROW

Major of the International Master in Digital Transformation

Digital technologies and innovations are transforming processes, operations, business models and entire organisations: their impact is often so pervasive and radical that it leads to a cross-industry “Digital Disruption”. We hence believe that Digital Transformation is not merely a combination of technologies, but a major phenomenon with deep strategic and managerial implications for all companies, regardless of the industry they operate in. This master will provide participants with the strategic, entrepreneurial and organisational approaches, methods and tailored “tool-box” to navigate across the main digital trends (e.g. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Blockchain, Big Data & Analytics, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, eCommerce, Mobile & Omnichannel Communication, Digital Manufacturing & Industry 4.0) and lead Digital Innovation in both public and private organisations.

*In order to fully participate in classes and company visits, presence on campus is strongly suggested, especially since January 2023. In case of visa delays, travel barriers or other specific issues, it will be possible to continue attending online.

EMBA FOR COMPANIES

The EMBA offers an immediate benefit to the companies in which the students work:

Innovation

Students are trained to be agents of innovation within their businesses. The goal is to bring the creative mindset typical of startups into the corporate world as well.

Therefore, programs are designed to accelerate the professional growth of managers and leaders who are able to respond to and tackle the challenges required by the market.

Return on investment

Being a professional in the workplace, students have the opportunity to put into practice immediately what they have learned during lectures. In this way, the company can derive concrete benefits from the advancement of its employee, as he or she becomes a promoter of change and innovation.

WHY CHOOSE US

Alumni back to School

Possibility to stay connected to the School until 2 years after the end of the master, attending a maximum of 2 elective courses on new topics that may emerge.

Empower your career

MIP’s Executive MBA provides participants with a holistic view of the organisation and its processes with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship and is oriented towards reinforcing also the soft skills and developing a network of relationships so as to accelerate the professional growth of managers and entrepreneurs.

In the new edition of the course, the Leadership Development Path has been redesigned, with Leadership - a Point of View activities and a choice of new Elective courses as well as the Career Development Programme, with the introduction of a series of workshops on tools for career development, from personal branding to business presentation skills.

In order to facilitate the achievement of professional goals or to meet any requalification needs in the current situation, we have extended the Career Development services up to one year after the end of the master, increasing the opportunities of meetings, both one-2 many (such as workshops, workshops and networking events) and one-2-one.

Moreover, during and after the Master, participants will have at their disposal a tool for ongoing professional development, the revolutionary digital mentor developed by MIP with Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence tools: FLEXA.

Enhance your network

MIP is part of the Politecnico di Milano and this is a unique opportunity to build your own personal network of relationships within the University's ecosystem to support your managerial or entrepreneurial career by finding the tools, partnerships and services you need in order to face the professional challenges you will encounter.

Proximity to companies is one of MIP's special features and a characteristic of all EMBA's activities.

Focus on entrepreneurship & innovation

The Part-time Executive MBA has been totally redesigned to train managers to be agents of innovation within their companies, where the topic of entrepreneurship, understood as being the ability to bring the creative mindset typical of start-ups into the corporate sphere, is becoming a priority.

Two pillars have in fact been dedicated to innovation and transformation, with the introduction of new courses in Design Thinking, Omni-Channel Marketing and Lean Startup. In the 4th Pillar, each student will be able to customise their own EMBA route, choosing between 2 Learning Paths with either an entrepreneurial or a managerial focus.

EMBA students will be awarded a new Diploma specialising in Digital Transformation if they choose 4 Electives courses in this area or if they participate to an optional Week in Silicon Valley.

Your Continuous Learning

Today, more than ever, being a true leader means standing out in a labour market where competition and digital transformation require constant updating, without putting the present on hold. For this reason, MIP has decided to offer an exclusive benefit for those enrolled in the Executive MBA 2022 programme: in the two years following graduation, participants will have the opportunity to access more than 370 programmes including courses and pathways from the Academy catalogue free of charge* so they can continue to invest in their future.

*Additional enrolment and administrative costs apply to some programmes. Master's programmes and programmes promoted by the Alumni area are excluded.

Smart learning: work & study

All the Executive MBA formats have been enhanced by our new digital learning platformD-HUB. Thanks to D-HUB, developed with Microsoft technology, participants can access pre-recorded video, actively participate in video sessions with the professor, interact with their peers and work with them on projects and assignments and access additional multimedia contents.

Up to-date multimedia content together with the recording of the lessons, provides a library which is always available for participants’ in-depth study and which guarantees extreme flexibility when taking the Master, regardless of geographical location and work commitments.

To provide professionals with the development of their decision-making capacities, innovation and leadership skills, our EMBA has been implemented with two routes aimed at personal and professional training: the Leadership Experiential Path and the Career Development Programme.

Our latest research shows that, on average, within two years after the end of the EMBA, 80% of graduates obtain a significant career progress, which involves a career growth in the current company in 27% of cases, and a change of career or a change of company in 53% of cases.
What kind of change?
> 71% change of role
> 58% change of function
> 24% beginning of an international mobility
> 5% launch of a start-up

FORMAT

The Part-time Executive MBA at MIP Politecnico di Milano, starting in July 2022, will have reached its 18th edition, and is also designed for those who come from outside Milan, thanks to the innovative format that provides face-to-face lessons on a monthly basis in short weekends (Friday and Saturday).

  • No overlap with work
  • 100% of classes via streaming
  • Networking & Company Visits
  • Career Development Programme
  • Voucher for your Continuous Learning
  • Leadership Experiential Path

The programme is divided into 5 distinct teaching areas: core courses in General Management during the first year, Electives and International Experience during the second one together with the Leadership Experiential Path, the Career Development Programme, and the Business Transformation Project.

This is a new structure, designed to provide participants with a holistic view of the organisation and its processes with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship.

For an overview of the structure please visit the Italian page.

Each core course includes the viewing of multimedia clips and face-to-face lessons on one weekend a month. In addition, to ensure an Executive MBA that is consistent with the need for flexibility inherent in the lives of all managers and entrepreneurs, it is possible to follow up all the lessons via streaming, thus avoiding an unexpected business trip preventing your participation in monthly lectures. In addition, for those who also miss the streaming, all lessons are recorded and the recordings made available.

To guarantee the students support and to maintain interaction between one weekend of lessons and the next, a content tutor, a member of the MIP Faculty, is available to moderate a discussion forum, to answer any queries, to enter into the themes of the course in greater depth and to discuss current issues relating to the course subject matter.

For an overview of the scheduling please visit the Italian page.

Alternatively or in addition to an Elective course, EMBA students may apply to the “Doing Business in” programme, the International Week or Exchanges.

Doing Business in China, Mexico or Silicon Valley

The course takes place at a Business School partner with the aim of  getting an in-depth view of the socio-economic characteristics of the host country.  During the week, lectures with the partner university’s faculty members are alternated with educational visits to local and multinational companies, with the aim of studying success stories and understanding the problems of multicultural management.

Also available is an opportunity to attend the “Doing Business in” programme in Silicon Valley, with the aim of developing a greater sensitivity towards the themes of innovation and entrepreneurship through a series of lectures and meetings with managers and professionals working in some of the most innovative companies in the world.

International Exchanges

There is also the opportunity to enrich your education by applying for one or more three-day Elective courses at European Business Schools in order to tackle internationalisation from all angles and meet executives who have faced the internationalisation process and will discuss related critical issues and opportunities.

Among our Business School partners are:

All company roles and functions need an ever more extensive range of transferable soft skills, which provide a real feature of differentiation when increasing one’s powers of leadership and for facing the future with the correct level of adaptability.

To respond to this need, the Leadership Experiential Path has been built up and radically redesigned to create a personal soft skills development programme which will strengthen students’ decision-making capacities and leadership skills, working on personal training for the entire duration of the Master programme.

The goal of the Leadership Experiential Path is to develop the key capabilities that leaders need to undertake their role successfully. This is a programme that provides courses in Organisational Behaviour, Outdoor Training, Virtual Team Learning, and Practising Leadership opportunities, with the goal of learning and applying innovative  leadership concepts thanks to the involvement of our Faculty and top managers.

At the end of the EMBA comes the Business Transformation Project, an innovation or entrepreneurial project supervised and led by a tutor from the MIP Politecnico di Milano Faculty and the services and network of the POLIHUB, the Innovation District & Startup Accelerator of the Politecnico di Milano, ranked as one of the top 3 incubators in the world.
The EMBA Project work is an excellent opportunity to realise consultancy projects in your company or to develop a new business idea with the support of the MIP Faculty .
Each year, EMBA students establish over 30 startups with the Business Transformation Project.

Another new feature being introduced in 2019 is the possibility of customising the duration of the Business Transformation Project. There are two alternative points at which the project can be discussed (in March or June).

TALENT & CAREER

The Career Development Programme has been redesigned to develop students’ skills in relation to the effective management of their own career path and to provide continuous updating on the latest tools and trends in the job market and become a career leader.

During the new edition of the Part time EMBA, a series of Careers Workshops will be held, with experts from the sector explaining how to design and carefully plan a career strategy, covering topics from personal branding to salary negotiation.

In addition, experts will be on hand for our students, Careers Advisors assisted by professional headhunters will provide support in personalised one-2-one Careers Advisory meetings to develop a strategic action plan relating to your professional goals and, if necessary, they will also assist you in the process of selection and interview.

In order to facilitate the achievement of professional goals or to meet any requalification needs in the current situation, we have extended the Career Development services up to one year after the end of the master, increasing the opportunities of meetings, both one-2 many (such as workshops, workshops and networking events) and one-2-one.

9 Career Workshops and 10 experiential LABs per year to strengthen career skills, useful for the responsible and sustainable management of your professional development. For example: Self-Awareness & Career Strategy Design, Job search strategies, Personal branding canvas, Managing Emotions in careers, Critical Thinking, Getting ready for job interviews, etc.

They will also have the unique opportunity of an individual meeting with a highly qualified Head Hunter. Students have access to international web portals, which allow them to enrich their network by further strengthening their career skills.

BENEFITS FOR THE COMPANY

Expand the international business network

IMM Global EMBA students have many opportunities to form ties with their classmates – a talent pool of professionals from around the world and from an array of backgrounds -, the alumni network and faculty of the different schools, and the international companies that they will meet during the program. They will also get insights from different cultures, companies, entrepreneurs and business contexts.  Thanks to the International Master in Management, candidates can reach out to this network and have the chance to gain contacts in areas that may before have been unexplored or inaccessible in order to solve future business challenges.

Increase the company knowledge and gain competitive leadership skills

IMM is ideal for companies that intend to develop their high potential executive employees and managers, as they can benefit from bringing their management skills up to date on the latest trends in management practice and in line with their company’s culture, values and strategy.
IMM students start to use skills and knowledge while in program and the additional advantage of working while studying is that students can transfer the skills they learn on the course back to the workplace instantaneously. Students can engage in new ways to drive their teams to work coherently and effectively together and have a greater impact in the company business resulting in higher revenue, lower costs, increased efficiencies, better decision making and much more.  They can then discuss the results of their endeavours to classmates and critically discuss their leadership progress with their lecturers and cohort.

Work on Employee Retention

Invest in the training of the employees, enhance the resources, improve the company business with top-notch talents and develop the employee retention.

Maximize the Return on Investment and Save cost

The expertise Global EMBA students gain is immediately applicable in their companies and organizations. Participants become smart decision makers, effective problem solvers, and well-prepared leaders able to take on increasing responsibilities. Over 50% of IMM alumni have saved their companies $12 million annually (Purdue survey). Companies can make considerable savings in the costs they would incur in obtaining external expertise either from consultants or by employing suitably qualified managers through the job market.

Develop a virtuous circle of education

Companies can benefit of further fees reduction of additional MIP Politecnico di Milano managerial courses (such as courses included in the MIP Management Academy) to implement a widespread training program for their employees, thus developing a virtuous circle of education.

The goal of the Leadership Experiential Path is to develop the key capabilities that leaders need to undertake their role successfully. This is a programme that provides courses in Organisational BehaviourOutdoor TrainingVirtual Team Learning, and Practising Leadership opportunities, with the goal of learning and applying innovative  leadership concepts thanks to the involvement of our Faculty and top managers.

TALENT & CAREER

The Career Development Programme has been redesigned to develop students’ skills in relation to the effective management of their own career path and to provide continuous updating on the latest tools and trends in the job market and become a career leader.

During the new edition of the Evening EMBA, a series of Careers Workshops will be held, with experts from the sector explaining how to design and carefully plan a career strategy, covering topics from personal branding to salary negotiation.

In addition, experts will be on hand for our students, Careers Advisors assisted by professional headhunters will provide support in personalised one-2-one Careers Advisory meetings to develop a strategic action plan relating to your professional goals and, if necessary, they will also assist you in the process of selection and interview.

Furthermore, the company has the possibility of intervening in the definition of the final project work on which the student will work in the last few months of their EMBA. The project provides for the collaboration and supervision of a MIP Faculty member, a Politecnico di Milano professor or an outside consultant. In this way, the company can benefit from the output of the project, which is in essence strongly practical and consultancy-based; it also activates the know-how of the various Politecnico di Milano departments.

Customised training

The company can give its contribution on the specialization and the Elective Courses that the student may wish to attend. In this way, it can focus the training of his employees on issues of which development is of great value and represents a concrete benefit.

Moreover, the company can direct the training of each employee in accordance with the needs dictated by the participant’s position and his professional growth path.

Leadership Experiential Path

Completely redesigned, the Leadership Experiential Path is aimed at working on soft skills to improve management effectiveness and developing the key capabilities leaders need to successfully undertake their role within the organization.

Access to the Ecosystem of Politecnico

Exposure to a technological ecosystem such as that of the Politecnico di Milano, which ranges from industry 4.0 to the internet of things and self-driving vehicles, can provide added value for managers and entrepreneurs, also in terms of open innovation.
This enables the company to achieve considerable cost savings against that which it would normally spend on acquiring managerial skills externally.

Financial opportunities
  • The course is recognized by a public body - in this specific case by the Politecnico di Milano. Therefore, the fee of the master is VAT exempted pursuant to art. 10 DPR 633/1972.
  • A specific schedule of rates is applied, via which the cost is distributed based on the duration of the Master; we are, however, happy to take into account the needs of the company in this regard.
  • Businesses which participate in Interprofessional Funds, such as Fondimpresa and Fondirigenti, can benefit from opportunities for sponsoring their employees to take an Executive MBA, taking advantage of the funds which have accrued in their Learning Account or by using open tenders.  Here, MIP works with all joint multi-sector funds by placing a team of experts at the disposal of companies to draw attention to the various funding opportunities.
  • Companies will be offered further reductions on multiple enrolments.
  • Companies wishing to sponsor their employees will be offered an extremely flexible and customized payment plan.

In the actual digital era, looking at the evolution of communication systems of the last years, the traditional tools and techniques for project communication inside and outside the company need to be continuously updated or sometimes even completely redesigned. Nowadays, for example, most of the communication among the project teams moves through WhatsApp Messages or sms (with a low level of traceability or validity from contractual point of view) ; to schedule a meeting someone affects directly on your personal agenda through Outlook or something similar; the traditional approach that sometimes arrive to forbid the communication among some stakeholders is anachronistic due to the difficulty to control this type of condition.
In the short term, this will affect also in the overall project organization. Which are in your opinion possible scenarios for the future of project communication architecture and systems? Which are the related consequences in term of project roles and responsibility distribution?

Present as much examples as possible to explain your point of view in an essay of no more than 3 pages.

We turn the future into a part of you.

We offer highly personalised services with the objective of developing the necessary skills, tools and strategy and expanding your professional network, to help you succeed in today’s complex and competitive global job market.

Which degrees do you accept?

Bachelor degrees in just about any discipline are acceptable. The final decision will be made also based on what type of work experience the candidate has accrued.

Will I have to take the TOEFL/IELTS tests?

You can choose which English certificate you would like to take. Generally they have a validity of 2 years. Some candidates may be exempted from providing the English certificate if they are native English speakers or can demonstrate that they have extensive experience working, living or studying in an English-speaking environment.

Do I have to come to the School for my interview?

If you are located near the school or visiting Milan, we would be most happy to receive you on campus for your interview. However, given the international nature of the student body, this is not feasible in most cases. We therefore conduct interviews via Skype using a webcam.
