A master designed to shape a new kind of Research and Innovation manager

MIT has been designed to shape a new kind of Research and Innovation manager, one who is capable of overseeing the entire value chain for an R&I project, especially at European level, from the strategic planning phase, through the operational design process, to the implementation and the management of the project.

This course was designed in collaboration with Netval, a network of universities and research centres that provides a forum for cooperation and exchange of information in research.

FINTECH – International Master in Fintech, Finance and Digital Innovation

THE MASTER FOR FINTECH PROFESSIONALS

The International Master in Fintech, Finance and Digital Innovation is designed to provide students with all the skills and competencies to face the Fintech revolution.
The programme builds on close collaborations with the financial world to combine theoretical competencies on methods and technologies with the expertise of the financial world and fintech applications and opportunities.
It targets young graduates or candidates with maximum 3 years of work experience, who want to specialize in the Fintech area by deepening their knowledge of digital technologies and their application in the financial world, e.g. banks, insurance companies, asset management. The aim is to train professionals who are able to understand and manage the digital transformation building on different skills and capabilities: knowledge of the financial system and of financial intermediation, information technology skills as well as quantitative methods applied to finance.

*In order to fully participate in classes and company visits, presence on campus is strongly suggested, especially since January 2023. In case of visa delays, travel barriers or other specific issues, it will be possible to continue attending online.

MIP and Politecnico di Milano have always been at the forefront of education and research in the field of finance and in particular of the application of quantitative methods and of innovative technologies to finance. In cooperation with the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Management Engineering, MIP has a long experience on post-graduate courses in the field of quantitative finance (risk management, derivative evaluation, asset management) and Fintech for executives (Fintech academy). Our Observatories on Digital Innovation as well as the Polimi Fintech Journey represent landmarks in the financial industry and in the research community nationally and internationally.
Furthermore, the intrinsic orientation towards new technologies of a leading technical university such as Politecnico permeates MIP’s programmes, that are characterized by a passion for quantitative analysis and innovation.

PROGRAMME

The International Master in Fintech, Finance and Digital Innovation aims to provide you with a comprehensive knowledge of finance and a robust methodological and technological foundation to face the challenges of the Fintech revolution.
The master is entirely taught in English.

Please note that this programme is designed for fresh graduates with ideally no more than 3 years of work experience. Candidates who have have more than 3 years of work experience may also consider our International MBA programs.

Students will spend 2 semesters in Milan, an international study tour in Europe, followed by a summer project work.

Who is eligible for the FINTECH Programme?

Students with a bachelor degree of 3 or 4 years in management, business, engineering or scientific disciplines (minimum 180 ECTS) or higher are eligible to apply.
The English knowledge is a compulsory requirement.

How long is the FINTECH Programme?

The programme is 12 months long.

In what language is the programme taught?

The programme is taught in English, although there are opportunities for students to study the native language of the country of study throughout the programme.

Do I need to speak Italian?

No, as the medium for the course is English, students are not required to learn Italian, although they will be given the opportunity to do so.

Is there an age limit for the programme?

No, but the average age of the candidates is 20-25 years.

What type of degree/title will I obtain upon graduation?

Upon graduation, candidates obtain the First Level University Specializing Master from Politecnico di Milano which is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and it is issued under the autonomous responsibility of Politecnico di Milano. With regard to the specific meaning of the 1st level master's degree, as per Bologna process, this is a 2nd cycle programme intended to provide students with further specialization or higher continuing education after completion of the first cycle. The first level Master Degree will release 60 ECTS/CFU credits.

Candidates are advised to check with the relevant authorities in their home countries regarding the validity/recognition of this title in their home countries.

Will I have to buy textbooks?

No, you will be provided with textbooks by the programme, with the cost included as part of the overall programme fee.

ADMISSIONS

STATUS OF APPLICATIONS: APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2022 INTAKE ARE OPEN.

Applications are processed on a rolling basis. Since the number of seats in class is limited, candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Should the course become fully subscribed before the deadline dates, applications will close earlier.

Non-EU students are encouraged to apply at least three months before the start of the programme in order to allow enough time for the Statement of Comparability of the degree and application of the student visa.

Holds a 3 year Bachelor degree in management, business, engineering or scientific studies (minimum 180 ECTS)

STEP 2: SCREENING OF CANDIDATURE

You will be contacted for the Motivational Interview in English, which will take place online.

STEP 3: COMMUNICATION OF THE FINAL ADMISSION DECISION

If the result of the selection interview is positive, you will receive the final admission and scholarship (if any) decision by email.

STEP 4: CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION

Upon receipt of the admission offer, you will be required to pay the first instalment of EUR 2500 within 15 days of the date of receipt of the offer letter should you wish to confirm your participation to the programme (a short extension to this deadline can be requested in case you are applying for an education loan, external scholarship etc, or for any other viable reason).

FEES AND BENEFITS

The programme costs €18,500. This amount covers the entire length of the programme, although it does not include living and travel expenses.
The tuition fee is €9,500 for alumni who completed a Master of Science programme at Politecnico di Milano in or after 2019.

Applicants for the 2022 intake of the International Junior Specialising Masters can apply for fee reductions. The reductions will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, early applications are encouraged. Candidates wishing to apply for financial aid must make their request on the application form at the time of application – later requests for financial aid will not be considered.

A master to manage digital innovation in schools

Digital tools have become an ubiquitous fixture in the current social landscape, and schools must play their part in teaching young people how to use digital technology responsibly and effectively. Schools are, therefore, expected to bring digital technology into their organisational and administrative processes.

Though MIDIS, school heads and other teachers (particularly those with special functions such as promoting digital innovation in schools) interested in this subject can gain a global perspective on digital innovation in schools and the management tools supporting the changes brought about by its introduction into schools.
The course will concentrate on two main areas. The first concerns the management side, to give teachers the tools to govern and sustain the change; the second concerns the teaching side, and has the two-fold purpose of providing ideas on using technology in teaching and of teaching the participants to use specific tools.

MES is offered at two levels.

Level 1 Executive Master in “Management of Schools and Educational Institutions: Skills for Middle Management in Schools” prepares managers working in the school sector, giving them the professional and organisational skills they need to bring a fully rounded perspective to their work as teachers in today’s schools.

Level 2 Executive Master in “Management of Schools and Educational Institutions: Skills and Innovation for Senior Management in Schools” helps senior managers in schools to consolidate their professional expertise, with a focus on the school of today and its potential direction of evolution.

Italy’s Arts and Cultural Heritage sector is currently going through a period of intense change. A number of challenges are “rocking” Italy’s cultural institutions. These include the change in perspective where visitors and, more broadly, all consumers of cultural assets are taking a central role; technological innovation; economic sustainability; and the regeneration of the local territory.

Today, managers of cultural institutions are at the heart of a transformation full of opportunities, and also of threats. EMMPF is the first University Master’s course designed specifically for executives and managers working in regional government and local bodies, as part of the complex processes to decentralise public service management in Italy and move to a system that is similar to a federal arrangement.
EMMPF integrates the traditional competences of management science (project management, management of innovation and accounting) with an analysis of public sector policies and legal and financial matters.
EMMPF includes an assignment, known as project work, which involves setting up a project of innovation that is of direct concern to the authority in question within areas of topical interest, such as spending reviews or the processes to simplify and improve regulations.
EMMPF covers a key topic in the area of public sector manager training, that of elaborating evidence-based proposals and policies that are, by implication, supported by data (including big data) and judgements based on diverse and robust methodologies of analysis, suitable evaluation procedures and comparisons with scientific research.

PROGRAMME

The International Master in Project Management is a 18-month Master programme offered by MIP Politecnico di Milano and Strathclyde Business School, that seeks to instruct students on managerial topics relevant to Project Management with special focus on project management as a process to deliver complex change, strategic management for formulating and implementing organizational strategy and the development of soft skills. The programme also includes the following practical activities: lessons, seminars held by international lecturers, workshops on soft skills empowerment, company presentations, alumni talks.
The master is entirely taught in English.

Students will spend 1 semester in Milan before they are moving to Glasgow for the second semester at Strathclyde Business School. The class room activity is then followed by a final project work which can take place in Italy, the UK or internationally.

Who is eligible for the IMPM Programme?

Students with a bachelor degree of 3 or 4 years in any discipline (minimum 180 ECTS) or higher are eligible to apply.
The English knowledge is a compulsory requirement. Candidates need to present an IELTS score of minimum 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each subtest.

How long is the IMPM programme?

The programme is 18 months long.

In what language is the programme taught?

The programme is taught in English, although there are opportunities for students to study the native language of the country of study throughout the programme.

Do I need to speak Italian?

No, as the medium for the course is English, students are not required to learn Italian, although they will be given the opportunity to do so.

How many students are in the programme?

The average class size is around twenty students.

Is there an age limit for the programme?

No, but the average age of the candidates is 20-25 years.

Candidates can take advantage of an early-bird discount of €1,000 by submitting their applications before 25^th February 2022.

Moreover, applicants for the 2022 intake of the International Junior Specialising Masters can apply for fee reductions. The reductions will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, early applications are encouraged. Candidates wishing to apply for financial aid must make their request on the application form at the time of application – later requests for financial aid will not be considered.

MERIT-BASED CONTRIBUTION

For exceptional applicants to the iMPM programme, MIP and Strathclyde offer partial, merit-based tuition fee contributions. The contributions will be given out on a rolling basis.
Candidates can apply for merit-based tuition fee reductions covering up to €4,000 by submitting an essay. The essay will be evaluated by the programme’s Directors. The essay must be submitted along with the other documents before the admission to the programme.

In the actual digital era, looking at the evolution of communication systems of the last years, the traditional tools and techniques for project communication inside and outside the company need to be continuously updated or sometimes even completely redesigned. Nowadays, for example, most of the communication among the project teams moves through WhatsApp Messages or sms (with a low level of traceability or validity from contractual point of view) ; to schedule a meeting someone affects directly on your personal agenda through Outlook or something similar; the traditional approach that sometimes arrive to forbid the communication among some stakeholders is anachronistic due to the difficulty to control this type of condition.
In the short term, this will affect also in the overall project organization. Which are in your opinion possible scenarios for the future of project communication architecture and systems? Which are the related consequences in term of project roles and responsibility distribution?

PROGRAMME

The International Master in Marketing Management, Omnichannel and Consumer Analytics is a 12-month Master programme offered by MIP Politecnico di Milano that aims to provide a solid background for facing the challenges of contemporary marketing practice: digital marketing, mobile marketing, non-conventional marketing, omnichannel communication, quantitative and (big) data-driven marketing. The Master incorporates brand management and creativity.
This Master in marketing matches a solid theoretical background with continuous applications to real business situations also thanks to our world-class partners, always keeping an international perspective but also introducing the specificities and the uniqueness of Made in Italy. In particular, the programme includes the following practical activities: lessons, workshop on soft skills empowerment, company presentations, project work in collaboration with companies, company visits, alumni talks, Italian Way, Biomarketing Lab, Digital marketing business game.

Students will spend two terms in Milan working on five major modules, followed by a summer project work and the option to take elective courses.
The Master’s academic structure features four fundamental blocks: generalist content, specialised content, concentrations and Project Work. The first of these, the generalist content segment, has a dual purpose: it both lays the foundations for the subsequent specialised in-depth studies and also provides participants with a standardised overview so that they can start their journey from the same place, irrespective of their initial knowledge based on their various backgrounds. The generalist content is divided into General Management, Basics of Digital Transformation and Soft Skills.

Who is eligible for the IM4 Programme?

Students with a 3- or 4-year bachelor’s degree with an equivalent of 180 or 240 ECTS or higher are eligible to apply.
Knowledge of English is a compulsory requirement.

How long is the IM4 programme?

The programme is 12 months long.

In what language is the programme taught?

The programme is taught in English, although there are opportunities for students to study Italian throughout the course.

Do I need to speak Italian?

No, as the medium of instruction is English, students are not required to learn Italian, although they will be given the opportunity to do so.

How many students are there on the programme?

The average class size is around 25 students.

Is there an age limit for the programme?

No, but the average age of the candidates is 20-25 years.

What type of degree/title will I obtain upon graduation?

Upon graduation, candidates obtain the First Level University Specializing Master from Politecnico di Milano which is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and it is issued under the autonomous responsibility of Politecnico di Milano. With regard to the specific meaning of the 1st level master's degree, as per Bologna process, this is a 2nd cycle programme intended to provide students with further specialization or higher continuing education after completion of the first cycle. The Master Degree of first level will release 60 ECTS/CFU credits.

Candidates are advised to check with the relevant authorities in their home countries regarding the validity/recognition of this title in their home countries.

Will I have to buy textbooks?

No, you will be provided textbooks by the programme, with the cost included as part of the overall programme fee.

AT A GLANCE

At MIP we have an academic faculty specialised in innovation and digital technologies and we have been working for years alongside innovative companies, startups and business incubators. Together with them we have developed the International Master in Innovation and entrepreneurship, a programme of absolute international excellence, designed to train women and men who excel in business analysis and have digital skills and entrepreneurial mindset.

The master also offers the possibility of getting a MSc in Entrepreneurship from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management by attending an additional year at WHU.

Students interested in being awarded the MSc degree issued by WHU have a double option:

– To choose and decide, before the beginning of the master programme deliver by MIP, to attend the entire programme (so, the 1st year at MIP and the 2nd year at WHU), by signing a Training Student Contract with each institution before the start of the programme including the details related to the full programme; students will have the right to cancel the Training Student Contract with WHU up until one month before the start of the 2nd year;
– To enroll first in the master programme delivered by MIP and then, by February of the year 1 (one), to decide to attend also the second year at WHU: in this case they will be required to sign the second Training Student Contract specifically focused on the second year of the master programme.

PROGRAMME

MSc option at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management

Joint Program in Entrepreneurship:

- 1st year spent at MIP, with the enrolment in the “International Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship” (iMIE), from September 2022 to September 2023. To those who will positively complete this programme, Politecnico di Milano will award the 1st level Specialising Master degree in ““International Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship” (60 ECTS)
- 2nd year spent at WHU, with the enrolment in the “Master in Entrepreneurship” (MiE), from September 2022 to September 2023. To those who will positively complete this programme, WHU will award the Master of Science degree in “Master in Entrepreneurship” (90 ECTS)

The students that fulfill the graduation requirements at each Party and satisfy the regulations of each one, will be awarded the following degrees:
- 1st level Specialising Master “International Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship” (60 ECTS), awarded by Politecnico di Milano, after the completion of the 1st year.
- Master of Science degree “Master in Entrepreneurship” (90 ECTS), awarded by WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, after the completion of the 2nd year.

Please note that, after graduating from the master programme, international students could stay in Germany for 18 months in order to find a job or to study further.

The tuition fees are EUR 18,500 for the first year and EUR 17,500 for the second year.

BEST ALUMNI ENTREPRENEUR

The Best Alumni Entrepreneur scholarship, offered in collaboration with the Gianluca Spina Association, will give one meritorious candidate the possibility to benefit from a €5,000 discount on the tuition fee of the programme.

Candidates interested in applying for this scholarship are required to write an original essay of a few pages in length (2-3) on the topic “The Right To Fail: Key to Entrepreneurial Action?”
